Mark Bourkeshire profileHow did Bourkeshire Interiors start?

After working in the furniture / interiors industry for 15 years I decided to set up my showroom next to Bourke Street Bakery in May 2013. We have a collection of custom made sofas, armchairs, antiques cement-terrazzo tiles in stock .

What type of clients do you work with?

I love working with all types of clients whether they prefer contemporary or classic interiors. We offer an interior decoration service with the involvement of our clients: hands-on approach in choosing the fabrics, wallpaper, floor coverings, colour scheme and patterns that they love and will be comfortable living with. I love creating bedroom /boudoirs. I think one of my fortes is delivering very pretty and sophisticated bedroom design.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I love seeing beautiful products from around the world being used. I travel a couple of times each year to Europe or other parts of the world to source products for my boutique and to get inspired.

What do you like about interior design?

I love the colours and trends in interiors with new fabrics, wallpapers, tiles and other bespoke furniture pieces coming on the market all the time.  But I also love classic looks and incorporating them into a scheme. I love using the existing pieces in a home, simply editing them and giving them a new lease of life combined with the beautiful new floors, wallpaper or joinery.

What projects have you recently been working on?

The image of the beautiful bedroom is from a Point Piper project. I loved that bedroom and every other bedroom I created after that. Another recent bedroom project was a gorgeous grey and green bedroom in a lovely heritage home in Hunters Hill. We have worked so in sync with this client it was incredible. It is almost finished and will be published in my website later this year.

What trends do you like in interiors at the moment?

I really like using wallpapers to provide textures and patterns. I also love upholstery such as luxe velvets, lovely linens and soft sheers.

What are the benefits of partnering with Boyac?

I love the efficiency, reliability and quality of Boyac team. And I’m always so grateful when I can pick up the phone and ask Susanna, Katie or Venetia who are there to help me with my questions! Also I love the Thibaut Design range they distribute.
