Friday Files – How to use Passementeries in Interiors

Passementeries (decorative trimming such as tassels, braid, and fringing, used on furniture and clothing) have been used in interiors for centuries. At Boyac we represent two fine passementerie suppliers; Declercq, a family owned French company that dates back to the 1800’s and Passementeries by Morrison Polkinghorne, a small workshop based in Cambodia who have been hand crafting trims since the 1990’s. We have put together a few ideas on how to add these gorgeous trimmings to any interior.

DRAPES

Adding trim to the leading edge of your window furnishings can transform a plain fabric into an eye catching statement or add that touch of luxe you have been looking for. Tie backs are also a practical and aesthetically pleasing accessory to add to curtains. Simple or ornate, both Declercq and Morrison offer you the option to customise your interiors to suit your look.

CUSHIONS

Cushions are an important addition to any living room or bedroom. When self-piping just won’t cut it there are endless options to make your cushions go from plain to fabulous. Fringing, braids, borders, gimps, key tassels and bullion, are just a few options for jazzing up your scatter cushions.

FURNITURE

Like icing on a cake, trimmings on a sofa or chair make it complete. A large bullion fringe on a sofa skirt or a delicate gimp along the cushion seam creates a sophisticated look in any traditional or modern interior.
