Talking Red G and JImpending motherhood has me thinking about two things:  setting up the nursery (hello Thibaut fabrics) and all the cute outfits I can dress our little baby in once she arrives. This naturally leads me to Talking Red – an adorable unisex clothing line produced locally by Georgia and Julia from Bendigo. I caught up with Julia recently to ask what inspires the team at Talking Red (and to order a leopard print romper for the little one) …

How did Talking Red begin?

Georgia and I have been great friends for years. In 2012 we both became mums to our beautiful sons Xavier and Amos. Instantly we noticed the lack of cool affordable baby clothes that were available. We love getting crafty, so when we saw the gap in the market we began sewing!

How do you find inspiration for each new collection?

Each collection is inspired by our desire to provide unisex clothing for babies through to toddlers that is fun and unique, whilst remaining affordable. We want our garments  to be spacious, comfortable and long lasting for little ones.

Talking Red 1What is the best part of your job?

I love when we get to meet our customers face to face and they tell us how much they love our products! We’re starting to get lots of clients uploading pictures of their gorgeous babies modelling our collections on our facebook page now, which is always a thrill.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

Our greatest achievement has been seeing our grassroots business grow from an idea to the thriving business it is today. We recently had Bec Judd and Megan Gale both show their babies wearing our Talking Red outfits – that was very exciting indeed!

What new trends and products can we look forward to seeing?

Overalls! Overalls! Overalls! We are adding these to our 2015 Autumn/ Winter collection, as well as our popular leggings, jeans and coats …. in lots of fun new exciting fabrics of course!
