FRIDAY FILES – Creation Baumann and Sustainability

Successful design and functionality go hand in hand with sustainable and successful business management. For Creation Baumann, this has been an ongoing universal topic that is ingrained in their corporate strategy. Their aims are to meet the highest aesthetical and functional requirements without neglecting the protection of the environment.

Ecological Sustainability

Environmental protection has a long tradition with Creation Baumann, with a neutralisation plant of its dyeing mill constructed in 1973 – a pioneering role in Swiss textiles. They have always been able to meet the legally stipulated wastewater values thanks to this plant, without the necessity of applying any additional chemicals.

Purchasing and Production

96% of Creation Baumann’s fabrics are produced in-house or purchased from Swiss or European suppliers. 99% of the yarns and threads used are procured in Europe; the rest from Asia. They try and reduce carbon dioxide emissions from production by using their comprehensive wastewater facility and heating system. They are able to save 60% of power consumption necessary to dry dyed fabrics by using state of the art modulating burners, staying well below the limit values defined in the Swiss Ordinance on Air Pollution.
