22 Nov FRIDAY FILES – Creation Baumann and Sustainability
Successful design and functionality go hand in hand with sustainable and successful business management. For Creation Baumann, this has been an ongoing universal topic that is ingrained in their corporate strategy. Their aims are to meet the highest aesthetical and functional requirements without neglecting the protection of the environment.
Environmental protection has a long tradition with Creation Baumann, with a neutralisation plant of its dyeing mill constructed in 1973 – a pioneering role in Swiss textiles. They have always been able to meet the legally stipulated wastewater values thanks to this plant, without the necessity of applying any additional chemicals.
Creation Baumann ensure they produce long-lasting products. With many years of experience, founded in 1886, the company’s code of practice has always been centred on product quality and longevity. Describing themselves as contemporary, refined and innovative – they ensure they live up to the well-known Swiss reliability and dependability. They always pay great attention to the right choice of raw materials for the least ecological impact, and have refrained completely since 1995 from using PVC yarns.
Health and Wellbeing
Thanks to the responsible handling of chemicals and dyeing solutions, Creation Baumann can guarantee that their products are absolutely safe to use. Their products bear completely no health risks, and are certified by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 with which the large majority of their products have distinguished. Their fabrics are ideal for persons suffering from allergies and particularly suited for use in health care. They can be washed several times, allowing for hygiene to be assured more easily than other textiles.
Purchasing and Production
96% of Creation Baumann’s fabrics are produced in-house or purchased from Swiss or European suppliers. 99% of the yarns and threads used are procured in Europe; the rest from Asia. They try and reduce carbon dioxide emissions from production by using their comprehensive wastewater facility and heating system. They are able to save 60% of power consumption necessary to dry dyed fabrics by using state of the art modulating burners, staying well below the limit values defined in the Swiss Ordinance on Air Pollution.
